That is the question.
I hate our apartment. Hate. it. I’ve been debating the paint for a while, and at certain points had even gone to the store to buy supplies only to change my mind and come back home.
I’m not painting. Screw it. I’d have to move everything, patch and sand the walls, paint, move and hang everything again, and then primer the walls back to this hideous white when we move next January. Screw it. I’ve decided I’ll just suffer through it (only 10 more months), and hopefully by the time we move, we can buy a little house and stay for a while. We’re hoping to add an additional family member early next year; I’ve already picked out the nursery paint colors and theme. How ridiculous is that.
In the meantime, I’m trying to embrace the white. Or something. I hate our apartment.
LOL! I feel your pain. Truly. I wound up having a lot of art and posters on my walls. Of course, I prefer white walls, and mine were colored, but hey.
You should get some tapestries. I don’t know why I don’t have one yet; I think they’re the ultimate.

Anyway thanks again for the advice. I’m really having a hard time with it. It’s hard to let go…
I didn’t mean I’m having a hard time with your advice, sorry. I mean having a hard time with the issue.
LOL, I know what you mean. You could just get drunk on margaritas… not sure if it helps to let go, but certainly helps to forget for a while. And I always have my greatest epiphanies while drunk (at least they seem to be at the time.)
I like the tapestries, but I’m afraid it would look too much like a dorm room. Maybe if it were mounted properly…
Actually, what I really really want is one of those giant maps the teacher used to pull down in Geography class. I found one in a thrift store once, and didn’t get it. I’m forever kicking myself in the ass for that.
Have you stumbled upon apartmenttherapy.com? It’s one of my favorite web sites. By far the coolest section of the site (which I spend hours pouring over) is their “Cool Small Apartments” contest they have every year. http://contests.apartmenttherapy.com/2008/small-cool/
They feature small apartments (under 800 sq feet) that are beautifully and uniquely designed. Lots of thrift store/Ikea finds featured. Most of them are renters, which I appreciate, because I hate my white walls as well, and a lot of them are able to “hide” their white walls, or at least design their apartment so creatively that I don’t even notice the renter-white on the wall.
Yes, I LOVE Apartment Therapy! I check it almost every day! There’s always something lovely and inspirational, and usually its not even the subject of the post, ++ love the partner sites. Unfortunately I just discovered it this year (the year of no money!)
